Welcome to Post No. 50 of The New Dork Review of Books! To thank all of you for your continued readership, I'm giving away an extra copy of Lorrie Moore's novel A Gate at the Stairs.
Even though A Gate at the Stairs is listed on my "Currently Reading" gadget, I'm still finishing up another mindless Vince Flynn thriller titled The Third Option, so I actually haven't started it yet. But based on good reviews, like this one by Kath at [Insert suitably snappy title here], I'm excited to check it out!
To enter to win the book, which is the actual novel just as you'd buy it from a bookstore (i.e., not an ARC), please just leave a comment explaining how you meet the following criteria. You'll get:
— 2 entries for being an existing follower.
— 1 entry for being a new follower.
— 2 entries for linking to this giveaway on your own blog (please provide link in comment).
The deadline for entry is March 31. I'll announce the winner April 1. Good luck!
Finally, if you'll indulge me a bit of a "clips show," here are links to a few of my favorite posts. By "favorite," I just mean the ones that touched off the best discussions. Enjoy!
1. Feb 11th - The Play's The Thing: A Look At Literary Gimmicks
2. Jan. 18th - Is a Book Reviewer an Artist?
3. Dec. 14th - That David Foster Wallace Post
4. Nov. 5th - The Lost Symbol: Signifying Very Little
And just for posterity, here's my first post from back on Oct. 1.
Please enter me! +2 for being an existing follower! Thanks and congrats on 50 posts!
ReplyDeleteI've been a lurker here, but I'll make it official and become a follower for 1 point. I should anyway, not just for the book giveaway, but because you have some very interesting points of view. Please consider me entered, and here is where I posted your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteExisting follower, as well.

I want this book so much, I'm sneezing. I don't know the correlation, but there must be something, ya know? :)
ReplyDeleteI have been subscribed to your feed for months now, because, well, Following you on Google Friend Connect wouldn't be of much help since I don't use Blogger. Or Google. Huh.
But I want this so much, I'll be a new follower too. ;p Then again, this is not so useful beyond giving me an extra point. :p
Congrats on post 50, Greg. I'd like a chance for the book and qualify for 2 entries (Google Reader and Google Friend Connect). Best wishes, Rob

Congratulations on 50 posts, Greg. I have been a follower since (was it yesterday?) I found your blog on Bookblogs. You might want to send me your copy of Lorrie Moore's book because I am an English teacher. I can show the book to my class and explain that there are so many book-lovers out there, and aren't they generous? I love Lorrie Moore's short stories, and I'm sure I would gobble this book up, given the chance. http://bibliophiliac-bibliophiliac.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 50 posts! Very exciting. I'd love to be entered... +2 (existing follower).
ReplyDeletePS - Love the Dan Brown post. I've read his first two and have a copy of The Lost Symbol currently holding up my jewelry box. Random House was handing them out like candy when I was there for a meeting in the fall. Maybe one day I'll actually read it... for now it's just a very hand tome for making multiple levels on top of my dresser.
ReplyDelete+2 for being a current follower. Thanks for sharing the loot.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Congratulations on 50 posts Greg. I would also love a chance at this book.
ReplyDelete+2 current follower.
Thanks for the chance

Well, I just today discovered your blog and am very happy to say I am a new follower (although I don't use the blogger follower thingy...I subscribed to your blog through my Google Reader which I think is pretty much the same thing, right?). Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging and congrats on your 50 posts :)
